The Patriots HA

The Patriot's were fined 250,000 this week after they were caught spying on teams trying to figure out what their offensive signals were to see what play the team was going to run. I mean really what kind of shit is that? A team has to cheat in the NFL when you have all kinds of talent on the field trying to do the best they can. Another thing about the whole situation is what does that show young children? It shows them that cheating goes on in the NFL which to some could quite possibly be the peak of the mountain. It shows children that in order to get to the next level, cheating is alright. Bill Belichick was fined 500,000 dollars for the incident, although in the interview on ESPN.com, all he said was how ready he is for the Chargers. How can a team that has the talent that the Patriots have really turn to cheating. A team that is thought of as as powerhouse of the NFL cheating to win, that is sad.

The problem that the Patriots had was Matt Estrella, who is the video man, had the video confiscated from him after the Patriots win last week against the Jets 35-14. The commissioner of the NFL imposed the maximum fine against Belicheck and took away the Patriots first round draft pick if they don't make the playoffs, and if they do then he took away the second and third round draft pick of next year.

The plain fact that cheating is going on in the NFL along with the drama with Michael Vick makes the popularity of the NFL decline. It puts a bad thought about the NFL in peoples mind sort of like the fight in Detroit with the Pacers and the Pistons put bad hype on them. Overall I think the NFL will come back from this situation stronger than ever, although it may take some time.

I agree with you completely, it's some absolute bullshit what's giong on. But is it really bad for the NFL?? It looks bad for sure, and people who's jobs are related to the league are going to be pissed for sure. But don't occurences like this and Michael Vick's dogfighting scandal only open up more eyes to the NFL? People who already watch aren't going to stop watching. And people who don't watch might just gain some interest. Everybody loves a juicy story. Just somethign to think about.

You can't seriously believe that the Patriots are the only team in NFL that steals signals. Some players and former coaches like John Madden have even come out and said that everyone has tried to steal signals. Granted, they are the only ones stupid enough to do it against a former assistant who knows all their tricks. They also shouldn't have been using a video camera which leaves irrefutable evidence. Also, I'm pretty sure they were trying to steal defensive signals not offensive, since offensive plays are sent to the quarterback by radio.
